The Retail Factory (TRF) is getting press attention thanks to DAKS 2.0 (Data in Kleine Steden), a collaboration between KERNpunt, POM West-Vlaanderen and several West Flemish local authorities, with support from VLAIO. Within this project, we provide multiple cities with visitor data through crowd monitoring.
Both Het Laatste Nieuws and Het Nieuwsblad reported on Blankenberge, where the coastal city uses our sensors and dashboards to map visitor and traffic flows in order to strengthen policy, mobility and local retail.

Mayor Björn Prasse emphasises that the measurements are fully aggregated and anonymous: the city wants to understand trends and patterns, not identify individuals.
That exact principle is central to our own approach: at The Retail Factory, we place great importance on privacy-friendly, GDPR-compliant measurements, with the focus always on visitor flows as a whole, never on individuals.

Alderman for Local Economy Benny Herpoel sees objective data as a lever for an attractive coastal city, with measures that benefit liveability, safety and the shopping area.
Our sensors and dashboards track footfall at hotspots in the commercial core throughout the year, so local authorities can adjust more quickly and more precisely during events, market days or peak moments, and so objective data can also attract investors.
